Decision Support (DS) tool
What is the Decision Support tool?
The Best Practice Advocacy Centre (BPAC) and PHARMAC have developed a Childhood Asthma Decision Support (DS) tool, based on best practice guidelines for managing childhood asthma. The DS tool takes you through a step-by-step process to diagnose and prescribe for asthma and summarises the information into a printable personalised asthma action plan. The tool is available online and from practice management software.
Who can use the DS tool?
There are two versions of the DS tool currently available. One is for prescribers and one is for non-prescribers. Both tools are available for free online to all practitioners working with children with asthma.
How do I access the tool?
You will need a security certificate to access the tool. Once you have a security certificate, you will be able to log on with a username and password to access the system at any time. To arrange a security certificate please contact the BPAC Support line on 0800 633236.
If you already have a username and password to log on to the tool, click here .
Who to contact
BPAC manages the DS tool and security certificates. They also offer training and installation in general practice to help you use the tool effectively. For further information about the DS tool, security certificates, or to arrange training and support, please contact:
